Emergency Relocation Kit (Bug Out Bag) Inventory
The items listed below are intended to be only a guide of suggested items, use what will work best for you.
This kit is to be used in case you need to evacuate your home and relocate to an alternative shelter. You should have a minimum of 3 days of supplies. 1 bag per person. It is recommended that this bag(s) be kept in your car.
Note! Make & maintain a complete list of all items and quantities in your kit so that over time, you will know what you have on hand.
Bug Out Bag Contents:
- Sturdy backpack to hold all items
- 100′ of 550 paracord
- 2-Way radio (preferably one that runs on AA batteries)
- AA batteries and other sizes as needed
- Binoculars
- Weatherproof matches/butane lighters
- Water – minimum of (6) 20oz. bottles
- Bug repellent
- Cash (minimum of $100 in $1’s and $5’s)
- Can opener
- Cell phone with 12V charger
- Clothes – 1 complete change of warm clothes
- Compass
- Comfort items – books, cards, games, etc.
- Emergency sleeping bag
- Emergency shelter (tube or small tent)
- Feminine hygiene products
- First aid kit
- LED flashlight (preferably one that runs on AA batteries)
- Waterproof/windproof matches and or butane lighters
- Folding saw
- Food, MRE’s (Meals Ready to Eat), other meals that are self-contained and do not require water or heat to prepare, and Nutrition Bars in between meals.
- Gloves
- Glow sticks – green 12 hour
- GPS unit
- Hand sanitizer
- Hand warmers
- Hat
- LED headlamps (preferably one that runs on AA batteries)
- Knife
- Multi-tool
- Water filter
- Phone number list and important contacts
- Map of area – neighborhood & regional
- Medications – 2 week minimum supply
- Mess kits – paper cups, plates, paper towels, & plastic utensils
- Mole skin (for blisters)
- Sewing kit
- Soap
- Photo’s of household members & pets
- Poncho/waterproof jacket
- Duct tape – roll
- Spare eyeglasses/contacts & eye care products
- Sturdy shoes
- Sunscreen/lip protection
- Toilet paper & plastic bags
- Towel & washcloth
- Water (minimum 6-20oz bottles)
- Whistle
- Write-in-rain notepad & pen
Important: Refresh food, water, batteries, and clothing as needed.
